Craniotomy Cutting Guides

Craniotomy cutting guides

Craniotech manufactures autoclavable polyamide cutting guides for tumour resection prior to the placing of the cranial prosthesis. Tumours usually distort the bone surface to such an extent that it is not possible to accurately place the implant before resecting bone.

The cutting guide has the same border as the prosthesis and can be accurately located without having to remove any bone.

A marker is used to trace the outline of the cutting guide which will indicate the anatomy to be resected. Once the bone has been resected the implant can be fitted.

Using such a cutting guide in a two-in-one operation has great advantages:

  • Shorter theatre time
  • Shorter anaesthesia
  • Quicker recovery
  • Fewer associated costs
