Mandibular Implants

Craniotech manufactures patient-specific mandibular implants used in the reconstruction surgery of large bony or segmental defects according to the patient’s anatomy and the surgeon’s specifications. It can be used either on its own, together with vascularized flaps or non-vascularized bone grafts. The implant serves to restore the functional and aesthetic outcome of the patient.

Manufacturing & Materials:

The mandibular implants are made by 3D printing using a medical grade titanium alloy (Ti64 – ELI). If the TMJ also needs to be replaced, a medical UHMWPE fossa component is produced by CNC machining.

In addition, plastic anatomical models, surgical guides and an implant demo are 3D printed for preoperative planning purposes, further facilitating implant insertion and intraoperative positioning.
